Languedoc is a wonderful part of France, with a very old and substantial culture, reduced in prominence by the Cathar Heresy and its brutal repression in the 13th century. Nestled against the Pyrenees it is a land of mystery as well. Key towns include Carcassonne, Foix and Mirepoix. We most recently visited in June 2011.
